Interested in volunteering at TIPS Clinic?

We welcome volunteers to help us in providing this service, and in improving this service.

We have a limited pool of physician volunteers, and we urgently need additional volunteers. This will enable us to adequately and reliably staff the clinic and help us to open the clinic on additional Sundays. The facilities at the clinic are very limited in terms of space and equipment, and volunteers should be willing to work under these constraints. We do not yet have the necessary infrastructure for Electronic Medical Record, or electronic prescriptions.

Volunteers are needed to provide the following services:

  • Primary care physicians: To provide initial evaluation and clinical consultations on follow up visits.
  • Non-Primary care physicians: Clinic administration. Support Primary Care physicians in patient evaluation.
  • Nurses and Physician assistants: Clinic administration. Support Primary Care physicians in patient evaluation.
  • IT personnel: Help in installing and maintaining networking infrastructure for future EMR and electronic prescription.
  • Educators: Researching available health resources and educating and directing patients to utilize those resources. Educating patients with insurance to obtain services from appropriate providers.
  • Others and students: Clinic administration, office support, filing, and secretarial services, patient communication and translation in native languages.

The clinic cannot provide the level of service typically available in a fee for service clinic, however, even the limited service that we provide is much sought after by patients, and by volunteering at this clinic you will be fulfilling that need. Volunteers should be willing to commit one Sunday every month, or at least one Sunday once in two months.
If you can spare even one hour, one Sunday, once a month, … that will be
Once volunteers are familiar and comfortable with the operation of this clinic then even being available as a backup will be useful.

We also welcome physicians and other medical professionals who are not licensed to practice in Texas/USA. They can be very helpful in supporting our primary care physicians.
