Interested in volunteering at TIPS Clinic?
We welcome both Non-Physician and Physician volunteers to help us in providing service to TIPS patients.
Non-Physician volunteers should at least be High School Freshmen (9th Grade). They will be primarily working in the front end where roles include patient check in, updating and creating patient charts, updating/creating lab work orders, and making sure the clinic is running efficiently and on time. Over time as volunteers gain more experience, they will have the opportunity to do more patient facing work such as shadowing and scribing. The clinic can only support a limited number of Non-Physician volunteers at a time. High School and undergraduate volunteers are encouraged to reach out to either
Shripal Gunna (214-437-2686) or Pranav Aramada (469-788-1257) for inquiries about volunteering.
Physician volunteers are welcome year-round. New physicians are encouraged to come at 9:30-10:00 AM. Though we operate primarily with paper charts, labs, and prescriptions, we do have an EMR in place for physicians to chart, however it is recommended they bring their own device (Laptop/iPad). If you are a physician, please reach out to tipscharityclinic@gmail.com
Volunteers are needed to provide the following services:
- Physicians Volunteers: To provide initial evaluation and clinical consultations on follow up visits.
- Non-Primary care physicians: Clinic administration. Support Primary Care physicians in patient evaluation.
- Nurses and Medical/Physician assistants: Clinic administration. Support Primary Care physicians in patient evaluation.
- Educators: Researching available health resources and educating and directing patients to utilize those resources. Educating patients with insurance to obtain services from appropriate providers.
- Others and students: Clinic administration, office support, filing, and secretarial services, patient communication and translation in native languages.
For a lack of a fee the clinic provides service to all without insurance. Volunteering at the clinic provides much sought after service from many who struggle in North Texas. The clinic visit is not charged. If your physician requests you get blood work done, you will receive lab orders for blood work from QUEST Diagnostics and will be charged a discounted rate for those orders.
Volunteers should be willing to commit one Sunday every month, or at least one Sunday once in two months. Once volunteers are familiar and comfortable with the operation of this clinic then even being available as a backup will be useful.
We also welcome physicians and other medical professionals who are not licensed to practice in Texas/USA. They can be very helpful in supporting our primary care physicians.
