Pediatric Heart Specialists

Dr. Pooja Desai was born and raised in India. After completing medical school in India , Dr. Desai moved to the United States and pursued a pediatrics residency at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.

Dr. Desai's compassion to care for kids hearts led her to Children's Hospital New Orleans where she completed her Pediatric Cardiology fellowship. Dr. Desai worked for 6 years as a Pediatric Cardiologist in Wichita, Kansas before moving back to Texas.

Dr. Desai's special interests are fetal echocardiography, congenital heart disease in children and adults, and acquired heart disease in children including hypertension, Kawasaki disease, syncope, chest pain, rheumatic fever, hyperlipidemia, and cardiac arrhythmias.

Dr. Desai strongly believes in having a strong personal connection with her patients and their families. Her friendly and approachable demeanor puts her patients at ease and helps her develop an instant connection with them.

Dr. Desai lives with her husband and two daughters. In her leisure time, Dr. Desai enjoys exploring new places, trying new restaurants and listening to music.
